Going Native

Here are the promised pictures of me in my dishdash and Kerri in her abaya. Rowan has not yet been fitted, but rest assured...he is next.

Kerri: looks great! Doesn't it get hot, though?

Jesse: Um, kinda looks like you're wearing pajamas. :)

....can you get one in say....a forest green color..cause then I could get one for the PNW.

Naw, it's white, to off white, then browns and grays for winter. You'll just have to come and visit I guess...

Meer: Pajamas FTW! Best part is no belt to tighten when eating dinner... and don't get me started on the advantages in the bathroom...

You sorta look like one of those star wars characters...

I think what is throwing me off the whole notion of conversion to a dishdash is I have never seen a "portly" person in them, only skinny little guys. The people higher up the nobility ladder wear all the fancy headdress and shawl apparatus. At least in the movies - and we know how accurate American movies can be. If I had one I would want the fancy stiching up the arms, so people wouldn't look at the 140kg underneath!!

We got up to 22 degrees C today, and saw blue sky for the first time since last September. It was great for summer to fall on a weekend. Sonia is off to Ukraine for the summer, two more weddings and our social obligations will be complete until the next school year. I've been asked to teach German again so I guess I'll be around for another year.

Keep up the posts, very interesting.

Oh no, everyone wears them here. That's what's so cool...it's simply the local clothing...no pretense, completely natural. Portly, skinny, obese...that's why it's important to have them custom made.

JC,

Nice blogsite.

I first stumbled across your site late last year in trying to get some background on ITT IT positions &, believe it or not, read your whole blog. That's what happens when you're between jobs (contracts). Way too much time on your hands!

Your first pic in your "Going Native" garb for some reason reminded me of a monk :-). And celibacy ... Oh no! ;-)

Your wife looks cool in her sunglasses pic.

But your son seems to be in "I don't know these people ..." mode in his pic with you two. :-)

Anyvey ...

The reason I stumbled on your site yet again is that I was looking for ITT IT recruiter contact info here in Kuwait. If you could drop me an email @ gianottic@gmail.com I'd appreciate it.

TIA.

P.S. I'm glad I ran across your site again because I was just about to try Zain's wireless service out. I guess I won't be doing that now. Thanks.
